Roy Moore Says He Won't Follow A Supreme Court Order

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy S. Moore said Saturday that a Supreme Court ruling striking down state marriage bans would be “wrong” and that he would not follow it.

Moore attempted to block a federal judge's ruling declaring unconstitutional Alabama's ban by ordering probate judges to ignore her ruling. A majority of judges followed Moore's directions initially, but most have since reversed course.

Moore argues that the fight is not over until the Supreme Court rules on the issue.

“The ruling of the Supreme Court would bind the state courts. That's the law. That doesn't make the Supreme Court right in making such a decision,” he said, adding that he would not go along with it and would either step down or dissent from any cases involving the issue.

“You're taking any definition of a family away,” he added. “When two bisexuals, or two transgendered marry, how large is that family? Can they marry two persons, one of the same sex and one of the opposite sex? Then, you've got a family of four or how many?”
