Homophobes demand to punish GayRussia.Ru for a “blasphemous” cartoon

Clerical and nationalist movement “Narodnyi Sobor” (“People’s Council”) placed a claim to Russian Prosecution Office demanding to punish GayRussia.Ru web site for a “blasphemous” cartoon.

Homophobes are outraged by a cartoon published on our web site in regard with ban of “propaganda” of homosexuality adopted in Arkhangelskaya Oblast (a region in North-West of Russia) by local parliament last month.

The cartoon pictures the coat of arm of Arkhangelskaya Oblast, but in “inverse” manner: not Archangel kills the Devil by a sword, but instead, the Devil personifying homophobia kills the Archangel.

Orthodox homophobes feel themselves insulted by such a “blasphemous, mocking cartoon”, claims co-president of “Narodnyi Sobor” movement Oleg Kassin in his letter to Russian General Attorney Yuri Chaika.

Kassin says that this picture “extremely disturbs Christians, humiliates their dignity and insults their feelings”.

He asks the Prosecution Office to investigate and punish the web site and its owners.

This is not the first claim of homophobes against our web site. Earlier another clerical nationalist group asked the authorities to investigate against a cartoon published on GayRussia.Ru picturing an orthodox priest and a neo-Nazi shaking the hands of each other.
