Stuart Hatton Jr, Mr. Gay World 2014

The search for Mr Gay World came to an end last night when one lucky man was chosen for the award. Stuart Hatton Jr, from the UK, took the title at the ceremony in Rome, Italy. Hatton Jr, from South Shields, wrote a jubilant status on Facebook after his win. ‘I WON MR GAY WORLD!!!’ he wrote. ‘I am still in a complete daze about it and overwhelmed. But this is just the BEGINNING. Now it's time to show the world what we as a global gay community are made of. ‘This is a joint win that i share with all my fellow delegates from around the world. Together, as a family we will fight to bring equal rights to the entire world. ‘Alone we are only one voice but together we will ROAR! STAY PROUD.’
Second place was awarded to Cypriot Kiriakos Spanos, and third went to Irishman Robert Lowlor. The competition describes itself as ‘searching for a global gay man as an ambassador for LGBTs.’ ‘MGW is more than a beauty contest, it is the toughest job interview in the world!
Mr Gay World celebrates the pride and rights of the International Gay Male. ‘MGW’s visionary pillars are friendship, diversity and respect! The man selected will be a role model and ambassador for young gay men of the world.’
Categories in the competition include swimsuit, club wear, formal wear and national costume. Hatton Jr also received some amazing support from his hometown when he was in the running for Mr Gay Europe. A roadside sign flashed a message of support for him along a busy highway urging people to vote for him.
