The antigay National Organization for Marriage launched a fund-raising challenge in June in which an anonymous donor offered a $1 for every Facebook like, Twitter follower, and text message the group received — up to $100,000. But not enough people "liked" the group to reach its goal.
As of today, the end of the challenge, NOM has received around $2,000.
NOM received 931 Facebook likes and 298 new Twitter followers, or $1,229, according to Good to You. While it's not clear how many text messages were sent NOM's way, it seems unlikely that it added up to more than a few hundred dollars, Good as You writes.
This moves NOM $2,000 closer toward fulfilling it pledge of spending $2 million in 2012 to fight politicians who helped enact marriage equality in New York.
