Obama Only Opposes NC’s Anti-Gay Amendment When He’s Not In NC

From an article on Queerty:
Yesterday the White House statement in response to the North Carolina legislature’s decision to put a marriage equality ban on the May 2012 ballot said that President Obama opposes laws “designed to take rights away.”

OK. So why didn’t Obama mention that to the crowd of largely sympathetic North Carolina State University students that he spoke to today?

True, today’s speech was a jobs speech about his most recent jobs bill, but:

More than 75 [local] business leaders signed the letter [to NC legislators], which says, in part, “We write to oppose this extreme amendment because of the significant harm it will cause our state’s pro-business environment, its major employers, and efforts to spur job-creation in North Carolina.”

Maybe Obama’s staying mum while in the state in hopes of getting congressional Republicans to vote for his jobs bill. But if the Republican opposition to his other bills are any indication, they’re not gonna whether he slams the GOPs for anti-business bigotry or not.

Another wretched nugget: the NC legislature said that it moved the ballot referendum to May instead of November to “remove politics” from the vote. What they failed to mention however is that the May ballot is also the Republican caucus vote, basically ensuring that GOPs will come out in droves to help pass the anti-gay law. “Remove politics” our ass.

I am so angry that we as GLBT people give so much of our money and time to Democrats and STILL they cannot come out and proudly say we deserve EQUALITY! WTF?! I am even more pissed that Bev Perdue, the current Democratic Governor of NC, could even muster words of support for her GLBT residents of NC.

Not that I have the money to give a politician right now but...you better believe in the future when I get my professional life in order my money is NOT going to anyone who cannot openly say they support gay marriage, period!

Your preachin' to the choir.
I ain't rich but I do my part and make my contributions and it ain't go'in to either party.
These bastards always seek our votes and when we deliver the goods, we should hold them accountable afterward.
I personally love the glitter bomb idea, I would love to see this done in a major way at some big GOP event, oh fuck it, I'd love to see it at a Democrat event, especially one of em who got our support then didn't do what they promised.
