Mati Weiderpass gets kicked out of Fire Island gay club, crowd cheers

Gay hotelier Mati Weiderpass was kicked out of a gay bar in Fire Island over the weekend for his affiliation his Ted Cruz.
Weiderpass and business partner Ian Reisner own the Out NYC hotel, which has been the target of protests and boycotts by its mainly gay clientele after they hosted a dinner for the homophobic Texan senator at their Central Park penthouse.
Weiderpass was sitting at a table at Sip-n-Twirl on Sunday (13 June) with some friends.
'One guy got up and asked him what the rationale was to have dinner with Cruz,' patron Evan Lobel told Page Six. 'They got kind of heated and before you knew it, there was a lot of people yelling.'
The club's owner, PJ McAteer, then approached Weiderpass' table and asked him to leave and threatened to call the police. 'Upon their departure, the crowd cheered,' Lobel said.
Also on Sunday, LGBTI rights group Queer Nation flew a plane over Fire Island with a banner reading: 'Boycott Hi/Lo Tea! Fight For Full LGBT Rights!' a reference to cocktail hours at Reisner’s Fire Island club Pavilion.
Weiderpass released the following statement after the incident: 'PJ McAteer is condemning me for what he perceives as my thoughts and beliefs by asking me to leave a venue open to all. As small-minded as that is, I have been and will always be an advocate for LGBTQ issues.'

Exactly what issues would that be Mati?
Embracing and contributing to a man who is so virulently anti-gay and then saying you didn't know about his anti-gay stance, is still as unbelievable now as it was when you and Reisner pathetically tried claiming.
Both of you have contributed and supported anti-gay Republican candidates before.
You and Reisner tried telling us you also support Democrat's as well and toted a fundraising dinner for Hilary Clinton you co-own, as an example, only to find out, the venue you owned was rented out to her campaign organization, but neither you or Reisner attended the event, nor did you contribute to her campaign.
You have *claimed* you are registered as a Democrat, but I have posted on this very blog, you personally organizing and chairing a hyper-conservative (and yes, anti-gay) Republican fundraising awards dinner.
So tell us Mati, exactly what is it you have done for the gay community, other than to exploit them and sell them out for a few pieces of silver?
