The pontiff said that the Bible taught parenthood was based on the diversity of being male and female – 'the "first" and more fundamental difference, constitutive of the human being.'
Francis likened a long-lasting marriage to a fine wine, where a husband and wife make the most of their gender differences.
'They’re not scared of the differences!' he told 25,000 followers from the diocese of Rome. 'What great richness this diversity is, a diversity which becomes complementary, but also reciprocal.
It binds them, one to the other. 'Children mature seeing their father and mother like this; their identity matures being confronted with the love their father and mother have, confronted with this difference.'

Children all over the world, are raised in single parent homes and turn out perfectly fine.
More and more gay couples are adopting unwanted children everywhere and raising them to be decent, wonderful adults.
Pope Francis, your continued demonization of gay people and their families is what harms children.
I now that many find comfort in religion and I have no problem with that, but how anyone can embrace a cult that, at it's core, hates and reviles them, is just simply beyond me.
It's like being gay and Republican, it completely boggles the imagination how one could even begin to reconcile the two with any true, sane rationality.
