Austrian MP Gives Pope Fitting Christmas Present

The rainbow could be seen as a representing two main concepts: the gay rights movement and a 'blessing' from God.
So one lesbian politician thought of the perfect gift to give to Pope Francis: a rainbow scarf.
Austrian Green MP Ulrike Lunacek, the gay Vice President of the European Parliament, gave the leader of the Catholic Church his early Christmas present.
'Today I handed Pope Francis a rainbow scarf for gays, lesbians, and for peace,' Lunacek proudly said. The Pope is said to have been in favor of plans to relax the Catholic Church's inbuilt homophobia, suggesting it could one day be in favor of civil unions between same-sex couples. But then, at an interfaith meeting of religious leaders last week, Francis appeared to attack the sweep of pro-gay laws across the Western world.
'It is fitting that you have gathered here to explore the complementarity of man and woman. This complementarity is at the root of marriage and family,' he said. 'Children have the right to grow up in a family with a father and mother capable of creating a suitable environment for the child's development and emotional maturity.'
