You Just Can't Make Shit Like This Up
My first line of thought was to say: "The lights are on but nobody's home"
but truthfully....there's not even a smidgen of light, just an empty husk devoid of anything resembling
a decent human being.
Directv's Rivalry Ad
Absolutely love this Directv ad, this is my house all fall and winter long...tho I'm sure our personal betting practices are a little more different than two heterosexual males. (snerk)

Appeals Court Strikes Down Indiana, Wisconsin Gay Marriage Bans
A federal appeals court on Thursday
struck down gay marriage bans in Wisconsin and Indiana.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in
Chicago is the first federal appeals court since the Supreme Court
struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) last year to
unanimously strike down a state ban.
The 3-judge panel heard arguments in
the cases just last week.
Lawyers representing Wisconsin and
Indiana are defending restrictive marriage bans struck down by lower
federal courts in June.
Judge Richard Posner, a Ronald Reagan
appointee, who wrote the ruling, poured water on the states' main
argument that “the only reason government encourages marriage is to
induce heterosexuals to marry so that there will be fewer 'accidental
births.'”
“Overlooked by this argument,”
Posner
wrote, “is that many of those abandoned children are adopted by
homosexual couples, and those children would be better off both
emotionally and economically if their adoptive parents were married.”
“[T]he governments of Indiana and
Wisconsin have given us no reason to think they have a 'reasonable
basis' for forbidding same-sex marriage. And more than a reasonable
basis is required because this is a case in which the challenged
discrimination is … 'along suspect lines.'”
Posner also chided Wisconsin, saying
that “one wouldn't know, reading Wisconsin's brief, that there is
or ever has been discrimination against homosexuals anywhere in the
United States.”
Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom to
Marry, applauded the ruling, comparing it against a federal judge's
ruling upholding Louisiana's ban.
“Today’s sharp and scathing ruling
demolishes the arguments and unsubstantiated claims made by opponents
of the freedom to marry, repeated in the outlier decision out of
Louisiana yesterday, and affirms what nearly 40 other federal and
state courts have found: the denial of the freedom to marry inflicts
real harms and is constitutionally indefensible,” Wolfson said.
“Judge Posner's authoritative opinion points the way, and the
Supreme Court should move swiftly now to end marriage discrimination
nationwide, without prolonging the harms and indignity that too many
couples continue to endure in too much of the country.”

Satan's Mum, Linda Harvey Wants Xtians To Worship Satan On Labor Day By Refusing Service To Homosexuals
Christian conservative Linda Harvey
used a Labor Day message to promote anti-gay discrimination.
Harvey, the founder of the Columbus,
Ohio-based Mission America and a frequent contributor to the
conservative website WND.com, on Monday lauded business owners who
refuse to serve gays and lesbians, saying they are the victims of
“spiteful bullying.”
“What are Christian business leaders
thinking about this Labor Day?” Harvey rhetorically asked her radio
listeners.
Labor Day, Harvey said, was an
appropriate day to think about “our American business community.”
Wedding providers “are feeling
intense heat by the homosexual lobby,” she said.
“Some have closed their doors after
months of spiteful bullying. Others have been subjected to painful
and expensive lawsuits. Florists, caterers, inns and photographers
are being deliberately targeted by homosexual supporters to force
public respect for their deviance. The crowd that said all they
wanted was tolerance is showing none of it.”
“Our country is in trouble, friends,
because of these radicals who want to revolutionize our moral
standards,” she added. “How far will extremists go to push us
into sexual anarchy? Let’s pledge to start this Fall to do what we
can – lawfully of course – to stand up for our principles. This
evil does not ultimately win, we know, but we can make sure it
doesn't even win in the here and now.”
Of course, refusing to serve gay
couples is not only discriminatory and intolerant, it is illegal in
many cities and states.
Judge Martin Feldman Rules The Majority Can Vote Away Peoples Civil Rights And Legally Persecute Them
A federal judge on Wednesday upheld
Louisiana's ban on gay marriage.
“Same-sex marriage is not recognized
in Louisiana and is reasonably anchored to the democratic process,”
U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman said in his 32-page ruling.
Feldman, who was nominated to the bench
by Republican President Ronald Reagan, heard arguments in the case in
June in New Orleans.
LGBT rights group Forum for Equality
Louisiana filed the case in February on behalf of four gay couples
who say the state's refusal to recognize their out-of-state marriages
violates the U.S. constitutional guarantees of equal protection and
due process. The case was consolidated with a similar challenge
involving two gay couples.
In hearing the case, Feldman said he
wanted to broaden the case's scope to include whether gay couples
should be allowed to wed in the state.
“I feel uncomfortable resolving some
issues one way or the other and not all the issues one way or
another,” Feldman said at the time.
In his ruling, Feldman said that
plaintiffs had failed to prove that the ban violates the 14th
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and said that he agreed with state
attorneys who argued that the ban serves a legitimate purpose.
“Defendants rejoin that the laws
serve a central state interest of linking children to an intact
family formed by their biological parents,” he
wrote. “Of even more consequence, in this Court's judgment,
defendants assert a legitimate state interest in safeguarding that
fundamental social change, in this instance, is better cultivated
through democratic consensus. This Court agrees.”
The decision breaks a string of
victories in federal courts for marriage equality supporters since
the Supreme Court last June struck down a key provision of the
Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom to
Marry, criticized the ruling, saying it underscores the need for the
Supreme Court to take up the issue.
“Loss in LA is why couples should not
have to fight state by state, case by case, year by year,” he
messaged. “Time for #SupremeCourt to rule nationwide.”
An overwhelming majority (78%) of
voters approved Louisiana's 2004 constitutional amendment which
states that marriage “shall consist only of the union of one man
and one woman” and prohibits state officials and judges from
recognizing the out-of-state marriages of gay couples.
The Louisiana Supreme Court upheld the
amendment in 2005.
This judge lost me when he referred to homosexuality as a *lifestyle choice* and implied that same sex marriages could open the door to incestual unions.
What a knuckle dragging throwback...but then again, he's one of Scalia's buddies...perhaps this is the kind of arguments we can expect from the more conservative elements of the Scotus?

Looks Like Michael Sam Is Gonna Be A Cowboy
Seems Mr. Sam is on his way to Dallas too take physicals for the Dallas Cowboy's.
They are expected to sign him to their practice team.
I've avoided speaking my mind on his cut from the Rams...but I still have just one question, how do you not sign a guy that had a solid preseason performance, coming up with 11 tackles and three sacks and in Thursday night's preseason finale against Miami, Sam finished his preseason work with a team-high six tackles, and don't forget, two of those tackles were Mr. Johnny Football himself.
Simple answer, the Rams used Sams *uniqueness* in an attempt to draw attention to themselves.
There's little doubt in my mind they never had any intention of signing him.
Here's hoping he makes a place for himself in Dallas!

Gay Man Plants Pride Flag On Russia's Highest Mountain
Keith Tomlinson, 29, from Evelyn Terrace, Brighton, said he wanted to
raise awareness of LGBT people in a mark of defiance of the Russian
anti-gay laws.
When asked why he wanted to climb the 5,642m peak of Mt Elbrus in the western Caucasus mountain range, he said he “wanted to do something cheeky” while raising money for a LGBT equality charity.
He said: “I am gay and I don’t care about your silly laws, I am me”.
LGBT rights in Russia have been a contentious issue since new laws were brought in by Putin’s government in 2013.
Russian legislation bans the promotion of what is considered the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations. This piece of law has effectively made it illegal to be openly homosexual.
Mr Tomlinson said: “I hid the rainbow flag at the bottom of my sleeping bag just in case.”

I wonder if Putin will climb the mountain (shirtless of course) himself and rip it down with his bare teeth?
