Dumbledore, Gandalf To Wed Across From Westboro Baptist Church
Two male wizard characters from
Hollywood films will marry across from the Westboro Baptist Church on
Sunday.
The event, titled Wizards Wed at the
WBC, was inspired by a series of tweets by author JK Rowling.
After Ireland became the first nation
to legalize marriage equality through a referendum, Rowling called
the vote “wonderful” and proposed that Albus Dumbledore, the
headmaster of Harry Potter's Hogwarts, could now marry
Gandalf, from the Lord of the Rings franchise, in Ireland.
“So @jk_rowling wants Dumbledore &
Gandalf to marry in Ireland; if it happens, WBC will picket,”
tweeted the Westboro Baptist Church, which is best known for coining
the phrase “God hates fags.”
“.@WBCsigns Alas, the sheer
awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny
bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls,” Rowling responded.
When a few fans criticized Rowling,
saying that she was giving the church free publicly, she answered: “I
don't care about WBC. I think it's important that scared gay kids
who aren't out yet see hate speech challenged.”
Sunday's ceremony will take place at
Equality House, the rainbow-painted house owned by Aaron Jackson's
charity Planting Peace that sits across from the Westboro Baptist
Church. Planting Peace runs anti-bullying campaigns out of the
house.
“When we read the battle between J.K.
Rowling and the Westboro Baptist Church, we instantly connected with
Ms. Rowling's message on many levels,” Jackson said in a statement.
“The Equality House was founded to take a stand against the
hurtful words and actions of hate groups like the WBC. People often
question why we even mention them, and Ms. Rowling's words were spot
on. We must actively stand up to hate and ensure that LGBTQ youth
understand that they have a broad platform of love and support in
this world. That is a core part of what we do at Planting Peace. We
are delighted to be hosting the Dumbledore and Gandalf wedding and
stand with them in the face of bigotry and celebrate equality for
all. The WBC won't have to go too far to picket this union. They
can look out their front window.”
Planting Peace has launched a
crowd funding page for the event, where it is asking for cash
donations in lieu of wedding gifts for the wizard grooms.

German minister who compared gay marriage to incest could be taken to court for hate speech
In an interview with German newspaper Saarbrücker Zeitung, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, minister president of the federal state of Saarland, said allowing same-sex couples to marry would open the door for ‘marriage between close relatives or between more than two people’.
She also opposed equal adoption rights, saying a solution to the issue couldn’t be found by considering ‘whether someone feels discriminated against or not’ but by considering child welfare. Less than 24 hours after the interview was published, Berlin-based lawyer and member of Berlin CSD's board Sissy Kraus announced on her Facebook page that she had filed charges against the minister.
‘At some point it’s just enough,’ Kraus, who is planning to enter a civil partnership in July, said on her posting.
The charges Kraus brought against Kramp-Karrenbauer include incitement of the masses, or hate speech, as well as libel; in the document outlining the charges, she draws a comparison between the minister’s comments and rhetoric used in the Third Reich.
‘In her publicly available comment, the minister president aligns people living in or wanting to enter a partnership and desiring equality in the form of marriage with incest and polygamy,’ Kraus writes.
‘This comment is not just homophobic anymore, but inhuman, and in its content equitable with similarly inhuman statements made 1933 – 1945.’
Kraus also states Kramp-Karrenbauers statements cannot be protected under free speech. ‘The statements’ sole purpose is to express hate for this social group and the people who are part of it,’ Kraus explains. ‘Defamation is the only thing that matters to the minister.’
A spokesperson for the Berlin Prosecuting Attorney’s Office stated they were ensuring the charges reach the correct office in the Saarland, as the charges do not fall under Berlin’s jurisdiction; due to this they were unable to give any more information on possible proceedings.
NC Pastor Tells Students At Graduation Event That They Will Go To Hell If They Are Gay
A North Carolina pastor is being
criticized for telling students attending a graduation event that
they will go to hell if they are gay.
According to WBTV,
Pastor Scott Carpenter of Temple Baptist Church in Kings Mountain
made his comments during the Kings Mountain High School's annual
baccalaureate service.
Chuck Wilson, a parent, told WBTV that
dozens of parents and students were offended by Carpenter's remarks.
“This is bullying,” he said.
“Bullying doesn't have to happen from the back hallway of a school
or a back parking lot. It can happen from the pulpit. It can happen
from the stage.”
“It's a pubic school. There are
children here. I think there should be some level of responsibility
of the speaker coming in to not take advantage of a captive
audience.”
Carpenter dismissed the criticisms.
“Do I hate anybody? Absolutely not.
I just love them too much not to tell them the truth,” he said.
“Nobody got bashed or anything,”
Carpenter added. “All I did was simply speak biblical truth. …
The number one audience that I have to please is God.”
Cleveland County Schools said that the
selection of speakers at the optional event was left up to religious
leaders in the community.
Bigots often delude themselves into believing they aren't bigoted.
But, that aside Scott, your a liar and a deceiver... absolutely nowhere in the Bible does it say homosexuals are going to hell, absolutely nowhere...except in your self righteous, hateful, evil mind and you minister to a church and don't know this?

German minister says gay marriage will lead to two brothers getting married
Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, member of Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrat Party (CDU) and minister president of the federal state of Saarland, said the German government had to continue protecting the marriage between man and woman.
‘The question is whether we want to change some of our society’s fundamental definitions, and with potentially far reaching consequences. Until now, we have had a clear definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman,’ she said in an interview with newspaper Saarbrücker Zeitung.
‘If we open this definition, to a permanent partnership of responsibility between two adults, we cannot rule out other demands: for example, marriage between close relatives or between more than two people.’
At present, 23 countries, as well as parts of Mexico, 37 US states and the District of Columbia, allow same-sex couples to marry; only a few of them, including France, Belgium, Russia and Luxembourg, allow incest between consenting adults.
The minister said there was no doubt about discrimination against LGBT people having to stop, but she still opposed equal adoption rights for gay couples. ‘For years it has been said father and mother are the best constellation for a child’s development. We complain about children not having enough male role models in nursery and primary schools,’ she said.
‘It’s not clear to me how that should not affect their closest environment, where children’s characters are molded. ‘We cannot link this question to whether someone feels discriminated against or not – we can only link it to child welfare.’ According to the interview, the CDU is discussing equal marriage but opinions are widely spread; the minister said on a national level she did not consider the question of marriage to be a question of conscience, but a question of coalition agreements.
Had a German friend tell me that 75% of Germans believe gay marriage and adoption should be legal in Germany.
My response is the same as the one I have for my US friends, if the majority is for these things, then why do these same assholes keep getting elected back to office?
Answer? They are re-elected because people are assholes, they say one thing and do another.
They tell their gay friends and family members they are for their equality, then turn right around and secretly vote against them.

German Newspaper Makes It's Point About The Effects Of Marriage Equality On Heterosexual Unions
A week after Ireland saw a landslide win for marriage equality, German tabloid B.Z. – the biggest newspaper distributed in Berlin – last Friday (29 May) published a story to quell the worries of those opposing same-sex marriage.
But not in the way you’d think.
Instead of outlining what would change for homosexual couples, they addressed the other side of the discussion – the people who, in light of growing demands for full marriage equality in Germany, are voicing their concern over how it will affect the rights of straight couples and the importance and sacred character of marriage.
‘This is what will change for heterosexual couples if homosexual couples are allowed to marry,’ the headline reads. The article itself consists of a lot of white space and features a single word, centrally aligned on the page: ‘Nothing.’ Comments on social media ranged from praise to ‘homosexuality is disgusting’, but there seemed to be more positive than negative comments.
User Hannes Zinnbauer commented on a picture of the newspaper, saying: ‘Dear B.Z., thank you for this wonderful statement. You are awesome!’ Others said marriage equality shouldn’t have to be discussed, but everyone should have the same rights. ‘Are we still living in the dark ages or why does this [marriage equality] have to be up for discussion like this,’ posted user Ulrike Hoop. ‘Love is beautiful, no matter whom it concerns; I’m all for breaking down old walls and granting everyone the same happiness.’
