Anti-gay Christians Protest Outside Utah Gay Club
A group of homophobic Christians have protested Pride celebrations outside of a club in Utah.
The small group of conservative protesters demonstrated outside of Club Jam, an LGBT club in Salt Lake City.
The group traveled from outside of the state for the protest, which happened on Saturday.
They wore anti-gay clothes which had messages such as “homosexual is a sin” and “Romans chapter one reads your sin of sodomy is worth death”.
Protesters also carried abusive signs and shouted at people entering and exiting the group.
Police were called to the protest.
The group were told to stop using a megaphone, and they were reportedly cooperative.
Despite this, witnesses said that before police turned up they believed that the group may have become violent.
“Some of them came out there and it looked like a tussle was going to ensue, and then like seven cop cars with red and blue lights rammed up and broke it up or else it probably would have gotten pretty physical,” one witness, Shane Curtis, said.
Salt Lake City police lieutenant Scott Smalley said that the group wanted to “incite”.
“It’s a religious group that is preaching against homosexuality,” Smalley explained.
Brandon Purser, who owns the club, said that he and his staff would not acknowledge the protesters.
“I will ask that my employees refrain from any engagement, despite what hostility is sent toward them, the establishment or the LGBTQ community,” Purser said.
The protest only lasted an hour before police shut down the conservative group.
It is believed that they chose to protest on Saturday because Pride festivities began on Friday.
The bar owner is a moron, since when has pretending they don't exist ever discourage these types from thinking they can do whatever they want with impunity.
The better solution, in my opinion, would be find out what church they came from, get a large group of LGBT people together, and hold a gay pride event right across from their church, on Sunday morning during their Sunday morning worship service.
If they want to invade our safe spaces, demonstrate that such decisions come at a cost.

Christian Church Members Accused of Kidnapping, Beating Gay Man
A North Carolinian Christian minister is charged with kidnapping and assaulting a man to ‘expel his homosexual demons’.
Brooke Covington, a 58-year-old at the Word of Faith Fellowship in Spindale, faces up to two years in prison.
She is the first of five church members to face trial. The other defendants – Justin Covington, 20, Robert Walker Jr, 26, Adam Bartley, 25, Sarah Covington Anderson, 27 – will be trialed on a separate date.
Former church member Matthew Fenner, 23, has said he was leaving a prayer service on 27 January 2013 when around two dozen people surrounded him.
They slapped, punched, choked and ‘intensely screamed’ at him for two hours as they tried to expel his ‘homosexual demons’.
In the trial, it was heard how Fenner ‘thought he was going to pass out’ from the assault exorcism.
The church is disputing Fenner’s claims, as well as allegations of abuse others say they have also endured, according to WSPA-TV.
The Associated Press reports how four former church members who say they witnessed Fenner’s attack.
The sect, which Fenner joined with his mother and brother in 2010, has previously made headlines for throwing parishioners through walls intended to ‘purify’ sinners.
e regularly punched, smacked, choked, slammed to the floor or thrown through walls in a violent form of deliverance meant to “purify” sinners by beating out devils.
‘You can’t imagine the emotional toll this has taken on my life,’ Fenner previously told AP. ‘I had to put a lot of things on hold because of this. … I can’t do anything until this is over.’
The trial continues.
Leo Varadkar Elected First Openly Gay Prime Minister Of Ireland
Leo Varadkar (pictured here with his partner Dr Matthew Barrett) has become Ireland’s first gay leader.
The 38-year-old, who will also be Ireland’s youngest ever PM, is the new Taoiseach and leader of the ruling Fine Gael party.
He beat Minister for Housing Simon Coveney in the final vote.
The Dubiner previously served as the Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Health, and was first elected to parliament at the age of 27.
He made headlines when he came out publicly on RTÉ as Ireland prepared to vote on marriage equality in a referendum in 2015.
‘It’s not something that defines me. I’m not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician or a gay politician for that matter. It’s just part of who I am, it doesn’t define me, it is part of my character I suppose,’ he said.
‘I am a gay man, it’s not a secret but it’s not something that everybody would know,’ he added.
‘I have always put the career and job and politics first. I am a very private person.
Varadkar is now one of two openly gay heads of state currently in office – Luxembourg’s prime minister Xavier Bettel is the other. Other previous world leaders were former Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and former Icelandic Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurõardóttir.
Ireland was the first country to pass marriage equality by public vote.

Just As Everyone Knew He Would (Except For His Homo Supporters) Trump Ignores Gay Pride Month
President Donald Trump appears to be ignoring LGBT Pride Month which began today.
Trump broke the tradition of his predecessor, Barack Obama, who had issued proclamations kicking off the month in June during each year he was in office.
It’s not that Trump wasn’t busy signing other proclamations today.
He did find time to sign proclamations declaring June National Homeownership Month, National Ocean Month, African-American Music Appreciation Month and Great Outdoors Month.
Obama had also made a tradition of opening the White House up for several celebrations with the LGBT community.
That also appears to have been done away with.
‘There is no reception on Trump’s agenda, and the absence of a Pride Month proclamation is quite conspicuous,’ Zack Ford at ThinkProgress writes today.
Ford points out that Trump ‘could have become the first Republican president to acknowledge Pride Month with a proclamation, but he didn’t — and the silence is deafening.’
During his campaign for the presidency against Democrat Hillary Clinton, Trump stated that he would be the most pro-LGBT president ever.
He also tweeted less than a year ago: ‘Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.’ (pretty sure he was referring to himself)

Sense8 Canceled By Netflix
The second season of Sense8, which premiered just last month, will be the show’s last.
Netflix announced today that the drama series from transgender siblings Lilly and Lana Wachowski (Matrix) will not continue.
Sense8 is about eight complete strangers who are scattered across the globe – America, Korea, England, Kenya, Germany, India, and Mexico – but find themselves mentally, emotionally, and spiritually connected.
‘After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end. It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass and outright unforgettable,’ said Cindy Holland, vice president of the streaming video service’s original content, in a statement.
‘Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world.
‘We thank Lana, Lily, Joe and Grant for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment.’
Sense8 was created in 2015 by the Wachowskis with J. Michael Straczynski.
The show’s complex and gripping storyline has amassed a huge fan base.
But for Season 2 of Sense8, Lana Wachowski went solo – a first in her 20-year professional career shared with her sister.
Lilly, who just came out as transgender in March 2016, took a back seat for the time being to focus on her well-being.
