Vitaly Milonov Accuses Russian Gays Of Inciting Violence Against Straights

Vitaly Milonov, the St. Petersburg lawmaker who authored the city's “gay propaganda” law, has accused gay people of inciting violence against straight people.

A similar nationwide law inspired by St. Petersburg's ordinance and approved in June has provoked worldwide condemnation and calls for a boycott of the Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi, Russia.

According to AmericaBlog, France 24 journalist Julien Pain confronted Milonov on Thursday as he attempted to shut down Queer Fest, a private LGBT pride event in St. Petersburg.

“Can I ask you what you're doing here?” Pain is seen asking Milonov in a YouTube video.

“It smells worse here,” Milonov answers in English. “We are looking for European countries officials [who] support those who rape kids, support sodomites. I think, would be nice for Dutch people to know that the representative from the Dutch government is supporting those who are against Christians. He fights Christian church.”

“There is so much violence going on against gay people now,” Pain states.

“Oh no no no, it's a fake, it's a fake information,” Milonov responded. “No no no, it's a foolish story. Not true. It's not true. It's not true. I think much violence goes from gay people to straight people. Much more violence.”

“You think there's no violence against gays?”

“No,” Milonov answered.
