First Animated Gay Superhero Coming To The CW This Fall

Freedom Fighters is the first animated series to feature a gay superhero lead.
Joining hit series like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, the network has given us the first look at Freedom Fighters: The Ray.
The trailer has revealed Raymond ‘Ray’ Terrill will be part of superhero team Freedom Fighters in a world where the Nazis won World War 2 and have taken over America.

Ray is a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction.
But before he could report on the findings, the project head exposed Ray to a ‘genetic light bomb’ that was intended to kill him but instead gifted him with light-based powers. He then joined the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression.
The Nazis have their own supervillain team, the Reichsmen. It turns out they are evil, Hitler-loving versions of Flash, Green Arrow and Supergirl.
Joining the Ray will be Black Condor, Phantom Lady, and Red Tornado – who’s appeared in live-action during the first season of Supergirl. Whether the character will ever cross over from Earth X to Earth One and live-action is unknown.

Freedom Fighters: The Ray will debut on CW’s online platform in the fall.
