The Kentucky clerk who has vowed to
deny gay couples a marriage license claims that his rights are being
violated.
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear last
week met with Casey County Clerk Casey Davis and instructed him to
begin issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples following
the Supreme Court's ruling striking down gay marriage bans in all 50
states.
Davis, who is elected, told reporters
after the meeting that he would not resign and would prefer to go to
jail rather than comply, which he says would be a violation of his
faith.
During an appearance Monday on the
Family Research Council's (FRC) Washington Watch radio
program, Davis attempted to portray himself as the victim.
“It's not just me being violated but
it's both sides of the coin, both sides of this issue that's at stake
here, and that is our First Amendment rights,” Davis said. “We
have religious freedom in this country. If we lose that, we've lost
everything.”
Let's see, the Bible clearly tells you to obey the laws of the land, as a matter of fact, according to scripture, Jesus commands you to do so.
It also states, that all governments are in power because God put them there.
So, if scripture is Gods living word and your refusing to do what God commands you to do, exactly who is the victim here and who has a rebellious spirit in defiance of God?
This has dragged on long enough, the man needs to be dismissed of his duties immediately.
