Today In Gay History

June 19, 1566 - King James I is born in Edinburgh Scotland. His father was gay, and murdered in bed with his lover. James, responsible for the version of the bible which bears his name, confined his love to "heterosexual" men.
King James is also responsible for implementing and staunchly supporting and passing anti-sodomy laws and strongly pushed for the most severe penalties possible for those convicted; something hypocritically, he was quite guilty of himself.

'They' said when he became King: "First we had a Queen who would be King (Elizabeth I), now we have a King who would be Queen!"
