Simple answer, Britain, like many other European countries, are our allies. Sure, Obama, as our President, could just go and speak only to his counterparts in your country (or any country for that matter) but if a leader truly wants to lead, he/she must show they are not above accountability and yes, as our allies, he by default, should be accountable to those his actions may also affect. I wish more leaders would do this.
